Which river flows through Udawalawe National Park?

The Walawe River is the primary life-giving conduit that goes straight through Udawalawe National Park.

Coming from the central hill country in Sri Lanka, the river moves southward and then feeds the large Udawalawe Reservoir, inside the park, before it carries on towards the southern coast. Along the banks, you get a thick, shaded riverine forest habitat that acts as an important hiding place for many animals when the midday sun turns blistering hot.
