Which animals are easiest to spot in Udawalawe?

The Asian Elephant, Water Buffaloes, Toque Macaque, and Indian Peafowl are genuinely common and nearly guaranteed sightings on any Udawalawe safari.

Since the park topography has wide-open grasslands, with little dense jungle canopy that blocks views, these big, very restless species can be spotted from far away. Elephants graze without pause along the reservoir banks, while macaque troops are easy to catch near the park entrance and along forested edges.
