Where is the Elephant Transit Home located?

The Elephant Transit Home (ETH) is located just outside the western border of Udawalawe National Park, about 5 kilometres from the primary safari entrance gate.

It sits right beside the Udawalawe Reservoir dam, and the whole place is easy to reach from the main Pelmadulla-Timbolketiya A18 highway. Since the facility runs on its own, visitors do not need to pay a park entrance fee or rent a 4×4 jeep just to see the ETH. Regular road vehicles and tuk-tuks can drive up to the parking lot quite easily.
