What local souvenirs can I buy in Udawalawe?
In and around Udawalawe, you will spot popular local mementos like hand-crafted wood elephant carvings, spices gathered locally, and unusual things made from recycled elephant dung paper.
Near the park gates, there are small artisan stalls that peddle these eco-friendly paper goods; they directly back local work and conservation awareness, too. You can also come across traditional Sri Lankan masks as well as hand-woven textiles. If you buy straight from these neighbourhood vendors, the tourism spending goes right back into the communities on the edge of the national park.
