What amphibians live in Udawalawe National Park?

Udawalawe National Park has about twelve amphibian species, including the Sri Lanka Wood Frog, the Common Paddy Field Frog, and several tree frogs too.

Even with the dry conditions around the area, amphibians manage to do well near the park’s marsh zones, reservoir edges, and riverine forests. What stands out is that four of the species are endemic to Sri Lanka, and you can also spot members of the Sri Lankan Philautus bush frog group. They matter in the ecosystem because they curb insect numbers, and they also become food for a lot of the park’s reptiles and water birds.
