Udawalawe Safari Experience

The Udawalawe Safari Experience feels all about wide-open landscapes, rough dirt lanes, and those almost unmatched moments where you can watch wild elephants nearby. A lot of people say it is the best park in Sri Lanka for reliable pachyderm sightings, and honestly that reputation holds.

Whereas Yala has dense, shaded jungle, Udawalawe’s scrub plains mean the animals cannot easily slip away and stay concealed. Usually the safari runs around 3 to 4 hours, and you travel in a purpose-built elevated 4×4 jeep. Get ready for a bumpy, dusty, energetic drive. On many rides, you will run into elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles, along with a vibrant mix of raptors and peacocks too.
