Is Udawalawe town walkable?
Udawalawe town feels small, and the main hub is walkable enough for basic errands, but overall things are spread out along the main roads, with heavy traffic in between. Getting to and from your accommodation on foot is often a poor idea, and a bit unsafe, because there’s roaming wildlife around and you don’t really see proper sidewalks.
A lot of the guesthouses sit several kilometres away from the park entrance and the main town junction. Relying on local tuk-tuks is usually the safest and also the most efficient way to get around. This is especially true when you are heading out for dinner after sunset.
