Is Udawalawe good in September?

September is a great month to do a safari in Udawalawe. It sits right in the peak of the dry season, so animals tend to move into the open.

Inland waterholes have often dried out by then. Elephants and other wildlife then come in near the main reservoir each day to drink. The land is dry and brown, and there is little cover. Because of that, you can spot wildlife clearly across the plains.
