Is Udawalawe good in October?

October feels like this in-between time in Udawalawe, sort of ending the dry season, and then slowly opening up into the strong Maha monsoon rains. The weather can act very unpredictably, where a bright morning can quickly turn into a pounding afternoon thunderstorm.

If you come in October, go for morning safaris, because that’s when you are least likely to meet the rain. The paths can get incredibly muddy and tricky to navigate, but the park starts changing beautifully. The once-dried scrub jungle becomes a vivid, lush green, almost as if it happens overnight.
