Does Udawalawe have pangolins?

The endangered Indian pangolin lives in the dry area around Udawalawe. People rarely see it because it stays active at night and avoids open spaces.

During the day, it remains hidden. It curls up inside a deep burrow that it digs out. When night comes, it moves out and looks for food. It feeds on termites and ants, often near mounds.

Most safari trips run in daylight. Therefore, a wild pangolin sighting is not likely. When it does happen, it feels unusual and rare.
