Can you see kites in Udawalawe?

The Brahminy kite is easy to recognise in Udawalawe. It shows a chestnut brown body and a bright white head.

You can often spot these birds around the Udawalawe Reservoir. They act like scavengers, but they also hunt. Some days they drop down fast towards the water to take dead fish. Other times they glide high in the air, riding warm rising currents, sometimes with other raptors.
