Can I stay inside Udawalawe National Park?

Yes, you can stay within the park grounds by reserving one of the simpler wildlife bungalows or the marked campsites that are managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC).

Staying inside the park does give a full-on, immersive wilderness experience, but the lodgings are basic, and you need to book them early, through the DWC headquarters in Colombo. For better comfort, steady electricity and modern conveniences, most travellers prefer the many eco-lodges, hotels, and guesthouses placed just beyond the park’s main entrance.
