Can I see peacocks in Udawalawe?

Yes, the Indian peafowl, usually called a peacock, is extremely common and very easy to notice across Udawalawe National Park.

Peacocks do well in the park’s open scrub and savannah spaces. Visitors often notice males showing off those bright tail coverts to win over females, mainly when the breeding season is underway. Also, peacocks are regularly seen perched on lower tree limbs or feeding by searching for seeds and insects near the safari dirt tracks. Because of that, it becomes a comfortable little highlight during any game drive, almost every day.
