Yes, the Indian hare, which folks often call a wild rabbit here, is a resident animal in Udawalawe National Park.

These small mammals live in open grasslands and scrub forests. They can be overlooked quite easily because their coats blend in well, and they are a bit skittish. They usually move about the most during the cooler parts of early morning and late evening. During a safari, when visitors keep a close watch on the underbrush, they sometimes spot the hare dashing into cover as the jeeps start to approach.
