Are crocodiles found in Udawalawe National Park?
Yes, Mugger crocodiles (Crocodylus palustris) are seen quite often in Udawalawe National Park, especially near the main reservoir and the nearby waterholes.
These freshwater reptiles may be spotted while they are sunning themselves on muddy banks or drifting close to the waterline, not too far from shore. If you go on a safari early in the morning or late in the afternoon, you will usually have the best chance to watch them in their own habitat.
