Is feeding birds allowed in Udawalawe?

Feeding birds or any other wildlife inside Udawalawe National Park is strictly prohibited, basically to protect natural foraging behaviours and keep the ecological balance stable.

When people add human food to wild birds, it can create dietary imbalances, and it also changes their survival instincts in an unnatural way. In addition, park rangers closely monitor visitor conduct all the time, so do not attempt to bend this rule even a little. If you violate the regulation, you may face significant fines or even immediate expulsion from the reserve. Please watch wildlife from a distance and do not interfere with their natural diet, because that is how their everyday routines stay undisturbed.
