Can pregnant women go on a Udawalawe safari?
Even though it is technically allowed, a Udawalawe safari is usually not advised for pregnant women, particularly during the second or third trimester, because the ground can be so rough and bumpy.
The dirt tracks within the park are unpaved, and they get heavily churned up by rain, leaving deep ruts that require a firm 4×4 suspension setup. You end up getting constant jolts and frequent sudden stops, which can feel quite distressing and maybe unsafe. On top of that, there are no medical facilities inside the park if something goes wrong, and that matters a lot in an emergency.
