Is Udawalawe flatter than Yala?

Udawalawe is mostly wide-open grassland and low scrub. Yala National Park has rougher ground, rocks, and thick coastal dunes.

Udawalawe looks very even and open. That lets visitors see far across the land, with few breaks in the view. Because there is little dense cover or tall vegetation, it is easier to spot grazing animals. In Yala, the ground is more broken up, and you often have to look through rocky spots and cluttered areas to find animals.
