Is an Udawalawe safari tiring?

A three-hour jeep safari can get tiring. Mostly, it is the rough dirt route and the harsh tropical heat. Here is what usually wears you down:

  • Rough ground: The trail is heavily rutted, so the jeep jolts again and again. You can feel it in your seat through the open 4×4.
  • Hot air: The heat can hit harder when the air feels thick, and the sun glare stays strong.
  • Being seated: You spend a long stretch sitting, and you keep watching the bush the whole time. It makes you focus the entire ride.

To feel less tired, many guests are told to pick early morning trips or rides near the end of the day. The air is often cooler then.
