Is an Udawalawe safari noisy?

Even though the natural environment around Udawalawe feels peaceful, the safari part can get pretty loud, because there is that rumble from diesel 4×4 engines and also the back-and-forth chatter of other tourists.

When a major animal is spotted, multiple jeeps usually gather, and then you hear revving engines, plus all the manoeuvring talk around you. Still, good guides will cut the engines right away as soon as they get close to an elephant or bird, so you can sit in near-total quiet and really hear the natural sounds of the bush.
