Is Udawalawe good in June?
June gives fantastic chances for wildlife watching in Udawalawe, sort of sitting in the heart of the dry season where animals focus around the park’s permanent water sources. The weather is hot and proper rainfall is incredibly rare.
Since the scrub jungle has lost a lot of its post-monsoon greenness, you get clearer sightlines for roaming elephant herds and grazing deer. June also feels a little less crowded than the near-peak European holiday period coming in July and August. Morning safaris work best here to beat the heavy midday heat.
