Which entrance is used to access Udawalawe National Park?

Most visitors enter Udawalawe National Park by way of the Main Gate, which is set at the 7th Mile Post on the Pelmadulla-Timbolketiya A18 highway.

This access point is very well organised; it includes the main ticket counter, a modest museum, and restrooms. It is the place where all independent visitors and tour guides should line up to obtain entry permits first, before they proceed officially into the reserve. There is also a secondary gate at the northern end near the reservoir, but it is seldom used by ordinary tourist safari crews.
