Which areas of Udawalawe have the highest wildlife density?

The absolute highest density of wildlife in Udawalawe is always noticed right along the banks of the Udawalawe Reservoir, and also in the nearby floodplains of the Walawe River.

In the dry season (May to September), the reservoir water retreats and leaves behind nutrient-rich fresh grass tips. This dependable food and water setup works like a strong magnet, pulling large elephant groups, browsing deer, and lurking crocodiles away from the scrub jungle and straight into the open viewing spaces by the water.
