Which animals are hardest to find in Udawalawe?

The Sri Lankan Leopard, Sloth Bear, and Rusty-spotted Cat are exceptionally rare and notoriously hard to spot in Udawalawe National Park; sometimes you just don’t see them.

A small population of Leopards does live somewhere within the park boundaries, yet they remain very hard to follow, and they do not show the high-density habituation you get in Yala National Park. In the same way, the Sri Lankan Sloth Bear is almost missing from the usual tourist routes, and nocturnal hunters like the Rusty-spotted Cat need a lot of luck and expert tracking, because seeing them in daylight hours is a real challenge.
