Is Udawalawe wheelchair accessible?

Udawalawe National Park is not officially wheelchair accessible because the ground is unpaved, and that calls for high-clearance 4×4 jeeps, with no ramps or automated lifts.

Even with this, the park is still very enjoyable for travellers who have limited mobility.

  • Manual Support: Many safari operators are famously accommodating, and they routinely help people with mobility challenges into the vehicles.
  • Seated Safari: Once you are comfortably on board the jeep, the wildlife viewing happens entirely from your seat, so the actual safari becomes much more accessible.
